Torcello, Italy

A forty-minute boat ride from Venice gets you out to the island of Torcello, a hauntingly still and quite place. We probably saw a total of 10 people during our visit-that includes tourists. The images below are of Santa Fosca (# 2) and Santa Maria dell'Assunta, the oldest cathedral in the Venetian Lagoon. In front of the buildings is an old piece of marble-supposedly Attila the Hun's throne.
